Their are two set sizes for the cotton futon:

Single – 2100 x 210cm (7kg)

Double – 2100 x 1400cm (10kg)

PLEASE NOTE: The sizes given are the actual sizes of the cut material and after cotton has been put in there is a reduction in length and width of approximately 5-10cm as the shape of the futon swells to accommodate the cotton. With time and as the cotton reduces in thickness the total dimensions then increase slightly.

Thickness of cotton futon: When new a futon will be anything up to 10cm thick and the cotton fibres within the futon are fresh and fluffy. With use these fibres will become more compacted and the overall thickness of the futon will reduce to closer to 5-6cm. When the futon is aired in the warm sun these cotton fibres will rebound to provide extra comfort and in Japan futon are regularly aired to improve the fluffiness of the cotton inside.
